Coral propagation through fragmentation is an important conservation method for restoring damaged coral reefs, especially in the Maldives where eco-tourism relies heavily on healthy coral reef ecosystems. Coral bleaching due to rising sea temperatures poses a major threat to the Maldives’ coral reefs which attract tourists for diving, snorkeling, and other water activities.
Coral reefs that support the country’s eco-tourism industry can help counteract the impacts of coral bleaching and ensure tourists continue to enjoy the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Maldives’ coral reefs for years to come. Our in-house Marine biologists and experts are continuously working towards saving the reef system and protecting it from natural disasters.
Coral propagation classes are available for all guests of both resorts and visitors to the Marina and the facility is open daily from 10:00 – 16:00 hrs.
